Finally, a break from the heat! Of course, with the metal in my hips, these storms are no picnic either. Still, I'll happily take being stiff and achy over melting into a puddle. The plants in the store are perking up, too. I did my best, but I just couldn't keep the shop completely cool enough without risking damage to them, but the cooler air outside is certainly refreshing when the door opens. When it's not terribly windy, I've been propping the door open, too, so the fresh air can come inside. And Leo and Hera are thrilled that they can come to work with me again. Though poor Hera hates the thunder. She's tried to climb into the cubby at the base of Leo's cat tree to hide from it while she whines. She'll even snuggle up in my arms and let me carry her around like a child when I can.
My god, this is one hell of a hot summer. I can't even have outside displays of plants this year because they just bake. At least Hera and Leo aren't roasting in the shop, though I'm tempted to start carrying them both to the truck at the end of the day. That sidewalk has got to be scorching Hera's poor paws.
Now that I'm fully mobile, it's so much easier to move around the shop. I'm so glad the crutches are gone. We've gotten shipments of flowers in lately, darn near every day. It's been warm and rainy, perfect for people to plant new flowers. Even some vegetable seedlings have been coming in, too, for those clients who like to grow their own produce. I've thought about doing that myself, but I can never decide what to grow.
In other news, Syuu loves the kitten I got for him. She's a real sweety, but she makes cuddling in bed kind of hard. Still, Syuu adores her, so that's a good thing. And Leo and Hera seem to like her as well. I've caught Leo grooming her from time to time, which is just as cute as can be.

So I went to the shelter today to look at some puppies and to get one of the kittens that Kirihara-kun posted about. As a matter of fact, the little guy I picked out is the orange tabby shown in the post! He's a little snuggler, and hopefully will be opening his eyes by the end of the week. On the puppy front, I found a sweet little mutt who's gonna make a perfect shop dog. I've decided to name her Hera since the kitten is getting named Leo. I'm typically not a cat fan, but this little guy has already won me over. And Hera seems to like him, too. And boy, is she a quiet little pup! The only time she's really woofed is when Leo starts squeaking for some formula, and she stops as soon as she knows that I've heard them both. Clearly, she was meant to be a big sister to the tiny guy. Though now I have to wonder if he's going to think he's a dog as he gets bigger.
